Margaret's Vineyard; Marky Dean
Tuesday Aug 14
The summer weather has been perfect, as a grower and winemaker I see the possibility of this being a vintage year in my microclimate. The daytime temperatures have been below 100F lingering in the 80’s and 90’s F and the nightime temperatures are below 50F. There were a few days around the 4th of July that exceeded the above temperatures.
I have finished the netting of the vineyards and all varietals have complete verasion. The crop load is relative to the canopy and, again, this looks like a very good year.
The anticipation of a fine harvest grows with the passing weeks and days.

The vines were shoot thinned removing water shoots revealing well formed clusters with berries the size of BB’s. The danger of frost is gone and the vineyards are on schedule with a regular watering program. The long, lazy days of summer are eagerly anticipated.
